Workshop 1: Budgeting
This workshop covers the basics of budgeting like what is a budget and why you need one. We will then go through the 3 Steps to create a budget. Then we will look at different tools you can use for budgeting. Lastly, we will create a budget using a Budgeting worksheet
Workshop 2: Purchasing Decisions
In this workshop we will cover how to make informed decisions when purchasing products. We will then compare and contrast different payment methods you can use. We will then discuss things to consider when it comes to large purchases like a car purchase and a home purchase.
Workshop 3: Credit and Debt
In this workshop, we will start off by defining credit and debt. We will then go through what a credit score is and the factors that impact your score. We will then discuss credit cards in detail including how to evaluate credit card offers. Then we will discuss loans which is credit you obtain for big purchases like car. Lastly we will talk about strategies to manage your debt.
Workshop 4: Saving and Investing
In the first part of this workshop, we will discuss what saving is, discuss different types of banks and the products they offer. We will then cover how to manage your bank account. In the second part of this workshop, we will talk about what investing is and how is it different from saving, different types of investments and some strategies for investing to grow your wealth.
Workshop 5: Insurance
In this workshop we will first discuss what insurance is, why you need it and go over some commonly used insurance terminology. We will then discuss the different types of insurance in detail like Auto, Homeowners, Health and others. Lastly we will talk through some tips on buying insurance.
Workshop 6: Employment and Taxes
In the first part of this workshop we will discuss Employment. In this section we will talk through choosing a career, discuss different types of employment and break down the various parts of a paycheck. In the second part, we will cover Taxes. We will talk about the steps to file taxes, cover tax terminology and go through some tax calculations.
Workshop 7: Paying for College
In the first part of this workshop we will start off by analyzing the return on investment or ROI from continued education, define what sticker price and Net price are and compare and contrast the different types of educational institutions. In the second part, we will talk about the different types of financial aid available to make college education affordable and touch on what a FAFSA is and how to submit it.
